Subclasses Under Business Visa:

  • The 188A visa is exclusively available to individuals who receive a nomination from an Australian State or Territory government and meet the points test requirements for this visa category. To secure nomination, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the SkillSelect system.

    It’s important to note that for the 2023–24 period, the Government has not allocated any nomination places for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP).

    This visa offers a five-year temporary residence option for individuals aspiring to establish and manage a new or existing business in Australia. Upon establishing ownership in an Australian business, visa holders become eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa. An additional two-year extension is possible after holding the subclass 188 visa for three years, providing a total validity period of six years from the date of the original visa grant.

    Applicants have the flexibility to lodge this visa application from within Australia or overseas. If applying from within Australia, they must hold either a Substantial Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa.

The 188B visa is exclusively available to candidates nominated by an Australian State or Territory government. It offers a 5-year temporary residency option for individuals seeking to make a designated investment in an Australian state or territory. After maintaining the investment in Australia for 4 years, applicants become eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa. The application for this visa can be made from within Australia or overseas.

  • If the applicant is in Australia:
  • They must hold a Substantive Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa.
  • The applicant must reside in the nominating State for at least 2 years.
  • The 188B visa is exclusively available to candidates nominated by an Australian State or Territory government. It offers a 5-year temporary residency option for individuals seeking to make a designated investment in an Australian state or territory. After maintaining the investment in Australia for 4 years, applicants become eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa. The application for this visa can be made from within Australia or overseas.
  • If the applicant is in Australia:
  • They must hold a Substantive Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa.
  • The applicant must reside in the nominating State for at least 2 years.
  • The subclass 188 visa, also referred to as the Significant Investor Visa (SIV), is exclusively accessible to individuals nominated by an Australian State or Territory government. To secure such a nomination, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system.
  • This visa presents a 5-year temporary residency pathway for individuals willing to invest AUD 5 million in Australia. Upon maintaining the investment for a continuous period of 4 years, applicants become eligible to apply for permanent residency under the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa.
  • Applicants have the flexibility to apply for the SIV 188 visa either from within Australia or from overseas. If applying from within Australia, applicants must hold a substantial Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa. 
  • The SIV 188 visa offers several key advantages:-
  • There is no upper age limit requirement.
  • No prerequisite for English language proficiency is necessary.
  • Exemption from point tests is granted.
  • Up to 2 extensions are allowed, each for a duration of 2 years, provided that the extension criteria are fulfilled.
  • Lower residency requirements (40 days per year for the main applicant or 180 days for the spouse) are needed to qualify for the 888 Permanent visa.
  • This is for entrepreneurs who have been endorsed to develop their concepts and been nominated by a state or territory government agency.
  • This visa is exclusively available to individuals nominated by AusTrade.
  • It is a temporary visa with a validity period of 4 years, tailored for those interested in investing a minimum of AUD 15 million in compliant investments within Australia. Upon maintaining the investment in Australia for at least 1 year, the applicant becomes eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa.
  • Applicants can apply for this visa whether they are located in Australia or overseas. If the applicant is already in Australia, they must hold a Substantive Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa.
