The Australian Computer Science Society (ACS) will nominate individuals with a technology focus who do not have a nominator. You will however first need to obtain your unique identifier, then email the ACS who will advise on the next steps.

You will have to meet the health, character, security and integrity checks that will apply to all applicants.

For a Partner visa (subclass 820/801 or 309/100), there is currently no minimum English language score required at the time of application. However, as of recent updates, applicants who do not hold functional English may be required to:

• Attend free English language classes (through the Adult Migrant English Program – AMEP), or

• Pay a second instalment visa application charge (VAC), unless exempt.

Functional English can generally be demonstrated with:

• IELTS overall band score of 4.5 or above, or

• Equivalent scores in PTE, TOEFL, OET or CAE, or

• Completion of eligible education in English.

To apply for a Partner visa (subclass 820/801 or 309/100), you must generally demonstrate that:

• You have been in a de facto relationship for at least 12 months,
  OR

• You are legally married to your partner.

Exceptions to the 12-month de facto requirement may apply if:

• You have registered your relationship with an Australian state or territory,

• There are compelling and compassionate circumstances, or

• You have children together.

In all cases, you must provide evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing.
